Work in the Community Space

AWA has provided advice to a broad range of clients across the Not for Profit spectrum. We have provided assistance to, and carried out reviews of organisations in the health, education, community development and social enterprise spaces. We has worked with major Family and Community Trust funders to both assess their internal needs and to assist with capacity building in their client organisations. Work with The Tindall Foundation in assisting to build capability of Community Foundations is of particular note. Drawing on a background in the public sector as well as experience with private sector clients, Alan has coached a number of managers of NFPs. Alan also works with a number of funding and government ministries, including the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Children and many local government bodies.

Alan Wilcox

Alan Wilcox, of Pakeha and Ngati Kahungungu background, is an experienced chief executive, manager, strategist and consultant. He has worked in several sectors advising on policy, strategy and operations. Alan provides a range of management services including strategic advice, structure reviews, systems development, human resource development and change management. Prior to working in his consulting business Alan held executive management positions in local and regional government and was the first Chief Executive of the New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority.

Systems Development in NFPs 

  • At the request of the Tindall Foundation advising on organisational development for Community Foundations in Aoraki, Taranaki, Tauranga, Eastern Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Ashburton, Taranaki, Nelson Bays, Gisborne, Auckland and Northland; 

  • On behalf of Child Youth and Family assisting with the strengthening of Te Tai o Marokura – a kaupapa Maori social services trust in Kaikoura and Ngati Ranganui Social Services in Tauranga Moana.

  • Project Management of the Benecura CRM system in 14 Supporting Families Branches

 

Change Management in Not-For- Profits

  • Assistance to Playcentre in setting up the SPACE NZ Trust. 

  • Assisting with the development of a regional structure for Supporting Families in Mental Illness;

  • Assisting with the national amalgamation of SPELD authorities into one organization;

  • Acted as Change Manager at Kelston Deaf Education Centre to implement new strucutures and processes. 

  • Assistance to the Te Whangai Trust to develop plans, systems and processes for quality improvement and expansion of services.
