Alan Wilcox has worked in a broad range of areas from personal initiatives in property development, town planning, export and import, the development of private schools to executive management positions in local and regional government and was the first Chief Executive of the New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority.
Alan has a good understanding of the political and social contexts of his work as well as the commercial imperatives of the work environment. In doing so he assists his clients to add value to the lives of their customers and make positive contributions to society.
The wealth of capability within his consultancy has been cumulatively developed through practical experience with a diversity of organisations. AWA has a broad client base in the government, not-profit and private sectors. It also has a service record with a number of iwi organisations.
Alan is of European and Ngāti Kahungungu descent and was bought up in Kaiti Gisborne. He now lives with his family in Auckland.

Introduced a new Communications Strategy for Road Safety - with award-winning advertisements, resulting in a 15% drop in the road toll in its first half-year and long term reductions in road crashes
Developed and upgraded New Zealand’s Road Safety Strategy and the Land Transport Safety Authority’s Strategic Planning documents
Restructured the LTSA shedding 10% of its staff
Amalgamated the Motor Vehicle Registry with the LTSA with no industrial problems
Introduced modern planning and budgeting systems, performance management, remuneration and communications systems to LTSA
